I have begun my next translation series, Hilary of Poitiers’ Treatise on the Psalms. The Preparatory Teaching is now complete and posted as a PDF on the Translations page. I am now working through Hilary’s commentary on Psalm 1. Please check the In-Progress page for collected posts in this and many other series.

My series of posts on Arius’ teachings and immediate impact is now collected on the Other Content page, as will be my new occasional series on Hilary’s Targets: the objects of his doctrinal opposition.

A Latin Patristics Project

Welcome! Here you will find the fruits of my ongoing project to translate into English (usually for the first time!) some of the earliest Latin-language commentaries on the Scriptures, from the 3rd and 4th centuries AD.

In-progress translations will be posted in 3-4 paragraph installments as blog entries, where comments are always welcome and encouraged! Completed texts will be posted as PDFs, allowing for continuous reading and a few explanatory footnotes.

About Me

I am the Director of Evangelization at Holy Family Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NC.

In the past I was a Ph.D. Candidate in Church History at The Catholic University of America’s School of Theology and Religious Studies. If I ever attempt to bring that ship into port, you’ll be the first to know.
